I know it’s been a while. A lot longer than I had realized, actually. I had spent a lot of time concentrating on my writing at SaidBree.com, designing graphics for my best friend’s fundraiser and playing Guild Wars 2. I guess you could say I have too many hobbies! My biggest problem is that I’ve always been GOOD at a lot of things but never GREAT at anything.
I can’t talk a lot about my current project because it’s actually a present for my best friend, Shannon, who is getting married in October. I can say that it is very involved and I was able to watch the entire series of “Lost” while I was crafting it…. I still have a couple of parts left to finish, but it’s almost done. I’m actually quite pleased with it for the most part, but being the perfectionist that I am there is still some, errr, fine tuning I’d like to do to it first. 🙂 It did however get me revved up on my crafting again. It’s been a lifesaver since I’ve started homeschooling Lexus. Not being able to find another job has been miserable. But in a way, it worked itself out. It’s made it possible for Lexi to do the homeschooling like she asked. She’s already doing so much better, but I definitely have to be home to teach her the lessons.Â
So I’ll have my crafting to keep me occupied in the downtime. Finding a stay-at-home job would be the answer to my prayers. Even if it wasn’t a full-time gig, just some in-between jobs that kept me afloat. I had so much fun doing the fundraiser graphics, I wish I could get more like that.
Anyway…. back to the point at hand. I am going to be a bit more craft minded in the slow interim, so I’m looking forward to sharing that time with anyone who cares to join me.
I have recently acquired a rather large stamp collection, but since I have rarely worked with them at all my first order of business is to learn as much as I can as far as tips and tricks. I came across this post about Paper Piecing that I thought was really great. A simple enough technique that adds patterns as well as layers. You should definitely check it out!
I guess that’s about it for now. Just wanted to drop in and say a quick “Hello” to let everyone know I didn’t really drop off the face of the planet. See ya next time.
